Proverbs 3:1-4 My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity. Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.

Grave marker for Torbjor Tellevsdatter Skali-Homme |
|
Torbör Tellevsdatter was born in 1786 at Ovri, Telemark, Norway on possibly the Skali/Skaalie farm. She was on the Homme farm when she emigrated to Wisconsin with two granddaughters, Gunnell & Thea Gundersdatter about 1856 when she was 70 years old. She had been been widowed for 18 years already. Husband was Olav Gunnarson Stöyl and they had 6 daughters born on the Stöyl farm between 1817 & 1833. She died at age 101 in 1888 at Daleyville, Wisconsin and is buried in the cemetery behind the church. Her name on the top of the grave marker is Torbör Tellevsdatter Skali and at the bottom in large letters is HOMME, so she may have been on the Homme farm when she emigrated. She is my great-great-great grandmother and was Bergit's (Mrs. Lars Gjerde) grandmother. The two granddaughters that emigrated with Torbör would have been Bergit's 1st cousins, I think they were the daughters of Liv Olavsdatter Stöyl. See the reference on page 147 of The Historical Perry Norwegian Settlement document published in 1994 at Daleyville, Wisconsin.

BLESS THIS HOUSE Bless this house, O Lord we pray, Make it safe by night and day. Bless these walls so firm and stout, Keeping want and trouble out. Bless the roof and chimneys tall, Let thy peace lie overall. Bless this door that it may prove, Ever open to joy and love. Bless these windows shining bright, Letting in God's Heavenly Light. Bless the hearth, the painting there, With smoke ascendingt like a prayer! Bless the folk who dwell within, Keep them pure and free from sin. Bless us all that we may be, Fit O Lord to dwell with thee. Bless us all that one day we may dwell, O Lord! With Thee! Helen Taylor & May H. Morgan, 1927
